Okay, so I'm a little slow to catch on to new trends. But I finally decided to try the diy school glue base coat for glitter. Word is, it's supposed to just peel off when you're ready to remove it, just like when you would get glue on your fingers in elementary school. I cleaned out an almost empty polish bottle to put my glue mix in. I added a small amount of water but you dont have to. I think it made it a little easier to apply. Give it a good shake and....voila! You have a much cheaper version of a pricey product, yay!
I did a side by side comparison of my normal glitter removal method and removal with the glue base applied first. I used my normal base coat on my middle finger and the glue base on my ring finger. I brushed on one coat of Finger Paints Sugar Cookie For Two (one of my hardest glitters to remove) then sponged on a second layer.
I let my nails dry overnight and waited till the next evening to try to remove it. I started picking at it around the cuticle and to my surprise, it lifted up easily.
I used a cuticle pusher and just slowly worked it off the nail and it came off in two pieces very quickly!!
I used my normal glitter removal method (medical finger cots with acetone soaked cotton ball)
and this was after 10 minutes soaking...
My final thoughts? FABULOUS!! If you ever plan on using glitter polish, even just once in your life, DO THIS FIRST! I really was shocked with my results. It was always one of those "too good to be true" things in my mind but it does work.
So, what do you think about this? Will you be trying it? I hope you do. Your life will be sooo much easier!!
